Personal Profile

Coaching golf all over the world for 23 years has helped me develop a diverse set of teaching skills. I am a Class A member of the PGA of America, and have also been a Class A member of the New Zealand PGA. I also hold certifications as a Level 2 Trackman Professional as well as a certified Golfpsych instructor.

Innovativeness and encouragment are traits that have led to great success in my career as a golf coach. My personality is outgoing, and I am a natural leader. I’ve been in leadership roles my entire life.

For 18 years, I served as Head Golf Coach at 2 U.S. universities. My golf teams played in 12 NCAA or NAIA National Championships, producing 20 All-America Golfers. My teams’ performances on the course were outstanding, but our emphasis on academics made me most proud. In 2009 and 2011, our teams won the Academic National Championship awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America, an award given to the collegiate golf team with the highest team grade point average in the entire United States.

Because of my artistic background, I have a strong capacity for problem solving. The ability to see things from a creative perspective helps me discover innovative solutions to complex problems. This skill has aided me greatly in coaching both individuals and teams to succeed.

Out of my passion to help people play better golf, in 2012 I created coachofgolf.com, a website which I continue to author. My personal collection of illustrated golf instruction articles, coachofgolf.com has become popular world wide. Articles from the site have also appeared in publications in the United States and New Zealand. In 2017 I wrote and illustrated the book 50 Reasons to HATE Golf and Why You Should NEVER Stop Playing!, a humourous look at golf and why we play this frustrating and confounding game.

My natural curiosity to learn about different cultures has led me to teach all around the world. Outside of the U.S. I have taught in New Zealand, China and Canada. I am honoured and excited to now be a part of Shattuck. St. Mary’s Forest City International School and the Center of Excellence in Malaysia!

Our goal at SSM-FC is to make the Center of Excellence the finest golf learning facility in all of Asia, so that our student athletes can realize their golfing potential and follow their dreams as far as they wish to go. We will nurture the entire person– body and mind. We will be teaching advanced swing techniques and utilizing the latest technology that will not only give our golfers a physical advantage on the golf course, but a mental advantage as well. This is how we build champions!
